![]() Note: This guide is for the Steam version only and running it through Steam Proton. Using the steps from this guide I am writing I was able to get FFXIV to run through Steam Proton on the following distributions: True, I could post this guide on protonDB in the comments, but as they are just comments this guide would likely fall down to the wayside when new comments are posted. So you use Linux and want to play Final Fantasy XIV on it? Then you’ve reached the right guide. ![]() non-steam version or using Lutris instead of Proton to launch it, I will not be updating the guide to go in-depth into them. Since these options involve doing things outside of official steam stuff, e.g. Non-steam people can still use this guide at this time along with the argument of "NOSTEAM=1 %command%" as the launch arguments. Once linked people have been runing the windows version of Steam in the background of their Lutris wine container and launching it from Lutris. For now, most people are using Windows on another PC or Virtual Machine to do the steam account link, which REQUIRES windows to work. I am keeping the guide here for historic purposes, and may update it as I see fit once things have settled and a surefire way to launch the new official launcher from within proton has come about. Update Mach 12 2022: Due to the March 2022 update which forces Steam users to use the new launcher this guide will no longer work.
